General Motors announced a series of changes to the top levels of its management structure.
Vice Chairman Robert A. Lutz will retire effective May 1. His retirement ends a 47-year career that included senior leadership positions at four of the world’s leading automakers.
Lutz, who joined GM for a second stint on Sept. 1, 2001, also worked at BMW, Chrysler and Ford.
GM also appointed Susan Docherty to the post of vice president of marketing. She will report to Mark Reuss, president of GM North America. Jim Campbell, vice president of marketing for Chevrolet, Don Butler, vice president of marketing for Cadillac, and John Schwegman, vice president of marketing for Buick-GMC, will report to Docherty.
Alan Batey was named vice president of sales and service for Chevrolet. Brian Sweeney remains vice president of sales and service for Buick-GMC, and Kurt McNeil was appointed vice president of sales and service for Cadillac.
Steve Carlisle was appointed vice president of sales operations overseeing the dealer network, retail sales support and fleet and commercial businesses. Jim Bunnell, general director for network support, and Brian Small, general manager of fleet and commercial, will report to Carlisle.
