GM, Isuzu to Jointly Develop Pickup Truck

General Motors Co. and Isuzu Motors Ltd. have agreed to work together on development of a new pickup truck, but details about the vehicle are scarce.

Both companies issued statements stating that an agreement has been signed, but neither released specifics on the planned vehicle.

Both companies said that the project will explore development of a “next-generation” pickup, but GM spokespeople in the U.S. and Japan who were contacted by Light & Medium Truck declined further comment.

GM will launch new versions of its full-size Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups later this year, and also has new version of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in the works.

Isuzu sells low cabforward trucks and the Reach electric van in the United States.
