Ford to Hire 2,200 Workers

Ford Motor Co. plans to hire 2,200 salaried employees in the U.S. this year, the most in more than a decade, Bloomberg News reported.

The plan follows the addition of more than 8,100 hourly and salaried jobs last year, the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker said in a statement. The 2,200 new employees would be Ford’s biggest salaried staff increase since it adding 3,300 employees in 2001, Bloomberg said.

Ford’s total U.S. light-vehicle sales increased 13% last year to 14.5 million, Bloomberg said. It was the manufacturer’s best annual total in five years.
